LockLizard

Q: What is LockLizard and why do I need it?

A: LockLizard is the program Lampstand Press uses to protect its copyrighted material from illegal distribution. It is used to view the protected PDC files that you are purchasing access to when you buy DE.

Q: Is LockLizard incompatible with any programs?

A: Since LockLizard does protect against screen capture software, it cannot be used to open protected documents when such programs are running. Examples are SnagIt, Evernote, Gimp, and Microsoft OneNote. Dropbox has also been known to occasionally cause problems, as well as certain background processes such as uArcCapture.exe (associated with webcam use) and M4Capture.exe (associated with the Mikogo screen sharing software). In addition, since LockLizard tracks certain keystrokes to prevent screen capturing, some antivirus software programs may detect it as a threat. Comodo Internet Security is one such antivirus program and cannot be used in conjunction with LockLizard. We suggest installing the free Go To Egypt 3-week trial to see if your computer's current setup will be able to run LockLizard.

Q: Does LockLizard require a constant internet connection to give me access to the DE files?

A: LockLizard only requires an internet connection to grant access the first time you open a file from a publication. After that, no internet connection is required. For example, let's assume you purchase Tapestry Year 1 and the Year 1 Dialectic Evaluations in digital form. You would need to open one Curriculum file (i.e. a week-plan) from each unit of Year 1, as well as one Dialectic Evaluations file from each unit. That would give you access to all your purchases even if you did not have access to the internet in the future.

License

Q: What is the license and why do I need it?

A: The license file keeps a record of all your Tapestry digital purchases. When you make a digital purchase, access is granted on your account to the digital copy of the file you purchased. The license file is linked to your account and knows to give access to the files you've purchased.

Q: Can I use the license to access my purchases on more than one computer?

A: Your license can be used to access your Tapestry digital products on more than one computer as long as you have additional licenses available on your account. To request additional licenses for your household, fill out the Network License Request Form.

Q: I opened my license file but I'm still getting an authorization error when I try to open my files. Is this a problem with the license?

A: Several situations could cause this to happen.

  1. You have not purchased the files you are trying to open. Check your order confirmation email to make sure that you have indeed purchased the files you're trying to open.
  2. Your purchases have not been added to your account yet. Typically your purchases will be added to your account right after checkout, but it may take some time for your order to go through our system.
  3. You may have entered the wrong email address to download the license, or your purchases may have been added to the wrong email address. To be sure you enter the correct email, always use the address that your order confirmation email has been sent to.
In any of these cases, if you still cannot access your files 2 business days after your purchase, please contact Technical Support.

Q: I made my purchase over the phone and don't have a Lampstand Press store account. How do I get my license?

A: Your license file will be sent to you in an email. If you do not receive an email with 2 business days of your purchase, please contact Technical Support.

Tapestry Setup

Q: What is the Tapestry setup and why do I need it?

A: The Tapestry setup installs all the essential Tapestry files for the year of your choice. This includes the DE icon on the desktop and all the digital curriculum and supplement files.

Q: What if I only purchased one part of the DE? Do I still download the whole year?

A: Yes, you will download and install the whole year regardless of which part you purchased. The DE will show everything digitally available, but you will only be able to access the parts you purchased. Your license will know which parts to give you access to.

Q: What if I've already run the Tapestry setup and have just purchased something additional for my current year-plan? Do I need to download the setup again?

A: No, you will not need to download the Tapestry setup again. In this case, the files you purchased are already stored on your computer, so all you need to do is redownload the license to get access to your newly-purchased files.

Q: If the Tapestry DE is installed on my computer then why does it look like I'm going online to get my files?

A: Tapestry's interface uses an internet browser to display itself. All the files that this interface uses are stored on your computer, so even though it looks like you are using the internet, what you are seeing is all being displayed from those stored files.

Internet Browser

Q: What is the best internet browser to use with Tapestry DE?

A: Each browser has its own quirks as far as how it works with the Tapestry DE and it really comes down to personal choice. Lampstand Press recommends Google Chrome as it seems to have the least amount of issues, but consult the chart below for known issues specific to each internet browser and you can choose for yourself!

  Windows Macintosh
Internet Explorer Pros: Opens files directly from the interface without requiring you to save each file then open.
Cons: Requires you to "Allow Blocked Content" each time you start the DE.
